TRW steering box

I think TRW was the OEM supplier (S America?). So probably any replacements today come from them. I haven't seen any bad ones. (caveat emptor)

I"ve seen a ton of bad ones (ask Bugman (Eric Huellsman)). Our boxes are Genuine TRW, and the price has recently changed (check again), much lower.

The one I bought (from someone other than John C.) was a POS; I Ended up fixing up an original. Personally, I would ONLY trust the ones from ac.net

I always heard the the TRW's were the ones to use. I bought a reman (from Mexico) because I needed one that that day and thats all a shop I dealt with had in stock that day (160 mile round trip to VW partsstore for me). Biggest mistake I ever made! I had it on the car about 3 weeks until I bought a used one from a buddy, directly off an old crusty beam. worked 100 times better than that reman!

So what makes John's TRW boxes so much better than the other TRW boxes? Or is it a hit/miss thing, and John actually bothers to test his? ~Anthony

We also have "Product Instructions", which is something that most other stores seem to think are not required. If you know how to install stuff, you may benefit from shopping elsewhere, but if you want a little help, we'll often give you an answer to your e-mailed questions in minutes, even on weekends. THAT is the stuff you don't get anywhere else.

How about the little "tricks of the trade" that help you get the most of teh part, and advise you to install it correctly.. instead of just "bolting it on". :)

I've gotten nothing but outstanding service and advice from ac.net, and the fact that John takes the time to hang out with us here (and in various other forums), in close contact with the other hobbyists, should convince anyone that there's knowledge and dedication to the hobby behind that invisible counter. (Same goes with the rest of the ac.net crew).

LOL; I first started hanging out in RAMVA around 94ish', way before ACN started. Heck, the first public announcement of us opening up was on RAMVA! Seen lots of guys come and go; Jan is one of the "old timers" now LOL.
