Under the dash...

Jul 08, 2007 4 Replies

Hi there, On my recent '70 1300L bug I found 2 buttons/lights i dont quite understand. Since I dont have access to a manual (only the Muir book) maybe someone can help me. Under the dash, on the left side of the steering weelthere is a push button. Is that standard or some past owner gizmo? If standard, what does it do? It seems to do nothing when I push it. On the dashboard, center upper left of the radio, I got kind of a sunken button with a small red light that is pushable (remember I have the 1300L, it had some "Luxury" extras). Cant seem to find out what this button/light does either, when I push it, it lights up, but does anything else. Sorry if I fail the accuracy of location and description, since I'm in the middle of restoration, the buttons are all removed now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Under the dash may be for the rear window defogger (heater) if yours has that. The red button is the Dual Circuit brake warning light.

some info.

Strongly suggest getting a Manual. Some examples on eBay.

No defogger on my rear window. The dual circuit brake warning light warns me about loss of pressure on the brake system? Why is the light pushable? Had seen your site before, helped me a couple of times. Thanks

Mac

Cuz it's easier than pulling it.

LOL...in addition to this it is so you can test it to make sure the light works.... would suck if it didn't and your brakes failed, eh? I've never needed the light to tell me my brakes ain't working!!!
