Can someone answer what this part is and what the main function of it is?

It's a thermostat which controls vacuum flow to the diaphragm in the snout. IIRC the hoses "cross over".

I don't think the hoses cross. Left side port goes to intake manifold just below the carburator, right side port connects to the air cleaner "snout" diaphgrap.

With it out, when I suck on one side, it moves the little ball inside. On the other outlet, when I blow on it it moves the little ball inside. Which side does to my intake manifold, the side I suck on (vaccume) or the side I blow on (pressure)?
