I have a 1600 SP engine. Which "stock" carb is best (30 PIC, 31 PICT or 34 PICT)? What are the pros and cons for each?

go for the 34.... more air flow...

Go with the 30 or 31 PICT. The 1600 sp engine with the stock inlet manifold wouldn't produce much torque at higher rpms, so it wouldn't benefit from the 34PICT. The 34 won't fit anyway.

34 PICT. That's what the factory put on it, and is what works best on an otherwise complete, bone stock engine.

Oops.. I didn't pay attention, I just saw "1600" and assumed dual port. All our 1600 engines were dual port.
Do you mean the sp 1600 came with the smaller carb and intake manifold?

Walters engine is a 1600 sp with a small intake and a H31Pic carb...
Yes, they are the same as 1500 engines fitted with 1600 cylinders and with minor modifications on the heads on some of them which had 9mm stem exhaust valves.
