Depends. Is this before or after you run the engine dry of oil and roll the car trying to do a wheelie?

...I highly doubt he will roll it trying to do the wheelie....I think he will just break the transmission... =-)

How your car should look is entirely up to you. Some people like bumpers, others like nerf bars, and others like the no-bumper-at-all look. Do whatever looks good to YOU.

A friend of mine ran with those little T-bar things. People kept asking him if he realised his bumpers had fallen off!

Personally, I like the look of bumpers.

.................Why didn't you say that you were just trying to remove your bumpers?

.....Now, I feel like a real a-hole.

I wouldn't suggestion no bumpers at all. Sorry to be the voice of reason (for a change) but bumpers are there for a reason. If you intend driving on the street you may also look into local laws. Here you can be ticketed for not having a bumper. Unless of course you like being pulled over all the time and paying the ticket fines. :) Personally, I like the stock bumpers. The bars look kinda silly to me, but it's all personal preference, really.

I love the no bumper look but my car is not a show car so I went with what I consider the next best thing . SLICED BUMPERS. I took a set of New Triple Chrome plated 74 bumpers and maked two cuts on each one, removing the 1 " wide middle indented section. What you get is two L shaped pieces. You overlap one over the other and bolt together. This makes a bumper that is only 1" thick yet stronger then stock and has the same parking lot protection. If you look at it, there is very little bumper to be seen, the closest you can get to no bumper. Try my site for photos.

Thomas, that's cool no problem. He can slice the 69 bumpers. Joe

Now it is up to you to decide.

I'll stick to bumpers.

VW did not make a bumper on a bug till 73 with the 5mph bumper, the rest were jokes. That is way I went to the slice bumper. I feel you get to see much more of the body work yet you have the stock or better protection. What is interesting is that new Chevy Pickup with the retractable roof. It has similar bumpers to my sliced bumpers.
