1991 240SE Wagon Still not Starting

Im going to try one last time to get this running since the local Volvo shop wants $140 to diagnois the car and it will be $75 to get it towed.

The car will start 1st thing in the morning and run for about 3 seconds so I am guessing its not getting fuel. I though tmaybe the Ignition Coil was bad but since it is starting for a second the coil must be working. Correct??? I have a replacement screw for the RFP Sensor to put in but what would be causing it to not get fuel. It has a new Fuel Realy Switch, New RFP Sensor Cable and new plugs/distibutor. Anything else I should be checking. Thanks

Do these cars use a series resistor in-line with the coil? If so, the failure of that resistor can cause a car to start fine because the resistor is bypassed when the starter is turning but then shut down right after it starts. This used to be a very common failure mode on

1960s and 1970s Chrysler vehicles where said resistor was called a ballast resistor. In the know Chrysler owners would carry a spare!

Can you tow it with another car? At only $75 it must not be all that far, or towing is cheap in your area. I towed my wife's 1992 wagon with my 1990 sedan about six miles when it quit running (crank position sensor and distributor transistor were bad) and that worked out OK.

The diagnostic may take a few hours of labor, so $140 is not too bad IMHO. Beats paying $140 in unnecessary parts to have a car that still doesn't start.

Thats $140 an hour so 2 hours with tow is $350 and the car is not fixed yet. Im sure I will end up doing that but I want to try one last effort to get it running. Cheers
