I had a 10-CD changer installed and since then the fuel-relay kept cutting out. Disconnect the CD and all works fine. The garage initially diagnosed the problem as a vacuum hose collapsing, but I would imagine that would happen later in your journey as it warms up?!

Not quite the same symptoms, but my car would run fine some days, and then like you say, just cut out. It took to doing it on the motorway in the outside lane. Some times it would restart its self, like a bump starting, some times I would coast to the Hard Shoulder and it would start after a few minuets, but in the end it would take 15 or 20 mins to re-start. It was eventually found to be the Cam Sensor on the top of the engine, 2 bolts later it was all fixed and has been as good as gold for the last 8 months. By the way, it did end up showing in the Engine Diagnostic's, so it might be worth finding out how to read them, and then next time it happens pull straight over and get the code.
