94 850 Turbo wouldn't start (once)

This morning my 94 850 Turbo wagon started fine the first time, then after a short drive and a shopping stop, I turned the key to Start and nothing. No starter, no click, no sound, no nothing except all the warning lights lit when the key was turned to Start. I tried it a few more times with the same "nothing" result. Then about 15 minutes later I tried and it started fine. I immediately had the battery and alternator checked and they were both fine. The car has started several more times since then.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mick Ruthven

Also the neutral switch is mounted on the transmission and is a common failure. Next time, shift out of park and see what happens in neutral.

I'm not sure what you mean. The car starts fine now both in Park and Neutral. The time it wouldn't start I didn't try it in Neutral. Is that what you were suggesting?

Yes, try neutral next time. The contacts inside the neutral switch use some different contacts in neutral as opposed to park, so it's possible for the switch to work in neutral and not park.

I've also had a problem with my 94 850 (non turbo) not starting a few times. Did your clock and temperature reset and did you have to input the code for your radio when this happened? Did you notice a hydrogen sulfide smell coming from your battery? I had all these symptoms. I suspect I have an intermittent problem with the voltage regulator but since the car has been starting fine for the last few months I haven't had anything checked. This intermittent starting problem seems to be pretty common with the 850.

No such symptoms in my case.
