I have an issue with my Jetta that I hope someone can help me to diagnose the problem.
The car sporadically stalls, it feels like there is no gas passing through the system, the tachometer goes crazy but the RPMs do not change. I depress and press the accelerator and the car continues to run. I have changed the fuel pump, filter and had it electronically diagnosed but I have had not luck, the car continues to run the same. I was advised that it may be the transmission.
Is your check engine light on? If so what codes is it throwing?

zhow does the RPMs stay the same while the tachometer goes crazy? the tach. meters the RPMs (engine speed).
if the RPMs go up but the speed of the car does not increase then I would suspect the transmission also. did you check the fluid level? I think you have a dipstick on yours.
speed sensor located on the top of the tranny. Mine did not throw any codes, but that cured the problem. Hope this helps. Kerry
