Cargo Net for Passat Sedan?

Does anyone know of a cargo net that will hook to the four hook points in the trunk of a 2003 Passat GLX sedan? Audi has one for the A4, but they want $308 (not a typo) for it.

Thanks.

I think there's one for the Passat also, but it costs a lot of $$ also, but not as much as $300.

for vw cargo net

I had checked out several avenues for Cargo nets. I am assuming we are talking about the type that hang across the back trunk area and not the net that stretches between cargo tie downs. I checked with several car companies and found Honda and Subaru with pictures and prices on the net. The Honda was $39 and Subaru $50.

The parts department at the local Subaru/VW dealer did not want to sell me a $50 net but suggested I visit "Pep Boys" (insert your favorite well stocked auto parts chain here). Sure enough, they had one for $20 with everything you need. Mine came with 3M Adhesive tape and screws. I opted for bolts and washers and drilling holes for better results and strength.

Drill the holes in the sides and remove the storage compartment doors on both the right and left side. It will be a tight fit but you will be able to reach your hand around to tighten on a washer and nut (at least in the wagon). I'd recommend using a washer as large in diameter as the knob that the net hangs on. I wanted to give it enough support so it wouldn't get pulled off. I also taped the washer and nut on one side before reaching in there with them so both of them wouldn't fall down into the chassis and rattle forever. I taped on a piece of string too so I could pull them out once they fell. It takes some time to thread them on but once it is done, the knobs are on tight.

If you are interested in the cargo net to attach between the four cargo tie downs, Pep Boys (or similar) may also sell them. I would recommend getting four plastic caribiners available from REI (outdoors outfitter) as key chains to attach to the metal tie downs (less noise, no scratching).

Several weeks ago, there was considerable discussion of cargo nets for the B5. The cargo net for the Mercedes M-Class fits the B5 Sedan quite well. It comes with four plastic clips. Mercedes part no.: Q 6 75 0015 and is $29.

I bought one this afternoon.

I still see the occasional post looking for a cargo net. JC Whitney has one for $12.95, part #12dk6133r, depending on where you live shipping will cost $4.75 - $7.35 312-431-6102
