Source for cargo netting?

I want to fabricate a custom cargo net and wonder if there is a supplier of raw netting material - no hems or mounts or borders. I don't want the crappy stamped fabric "tailgate net" sold in discount auto parts stores - I prefer sewed nylon webbing or similar.

Anyone?

Thanks.

Try Boeing Surplus Sales in Kent.

I looked everywhere for one. I didn't find one that I liked. I wanted something with a "corded" look rather than the airgate ones. I went to buy bungee cords instead at the local fleamarket, cheap, cheap. They had a 3' by

5' cargonet made out of bungee material for $6.00 CAD, I was extremely happy. It has 14 hooks on it and it's very versatile.

Maybe a fleamarket or something....worth a try. Better than $80

If you are looking for a tailgate replacement, why? Net tailgates don't do as advertised and improve aerodynamics or save fuel, in fact the airflow goes forward there. Tie some yarn on and see. As a motorcyclist I don't like the stuff that falls out of net tailgates

I have been using the net from my wife's Audi for a while. The problem with most of the OEM nets is that they are stretchy and too small. I want non-stretching material to form a barrier, not stretchy to fit over irregular objects. A wall rather than a blanket, in other words.

I want a custom shape, so I need the raw material, if I can locate it.

No. it is not for a tailgate replacement. I want to restrain objects in my non-Jeep's cargo campartment - mostly lightweight stuff like sleeping bags and duffles full of clothes that I stack up to the ceiling against the back of my steel Milford cargo barrier..

I only mentioned a tailgate net because that is the only readily available non-stretchy net that I am aware of, that I might find locally. They are usually pretty crappy products.

So, what's the worst thing you have run over or nearly run over? I ran over a fresh dog carcase once.....

that's what I got this one for, it's great. Ultra snug, with 14 hooks it doesn't matter how much or how little you're packing, you can make it work.

Motorcycle shops sell small bungee nets. They are quite useful in my Jeepster too.

I jumped a dead deer one night, that will wake you up. A guy in front of me lost a kitchen stove but I was far enough back to avoid it, and i was almost hit by a 4x8 sheet of plywood on a city freeway. I am always noticing small stuff on the road, since my life depends on it. Shoes, tools, nails, firewood, clothing, auto parts, porcupines, produce. A lot of produce is hauled in open tubs in the Valley, garlic, oranges, lemons all smell great, but tomatoes and pomegranates are messy. A few weeks ago on 5 from Hanford into LA I saw busted watermelon about every 2 miles. I'd hate to follow that truck on a bike!
