Just started today... based on a bit of googling it looks like there's an O-ring on the shaft that can be replaced... has anyone attempted this ? Anyone got an exploded drawing for the pump ? Bentley doesn't cover the pump assembly much.

There's a Bosch service manual for just the pump. The throttle shaft seal can be replaced, be careful pulling the shaft off as it has a lot of splines and things won't work right if you put it back on in the wrong orientation. You might check the vwdiesel.net forums for technical info on the pump.
