Leaking Diesel Injector Pump

My 2.5 TD Defender has just failed its MOT, and one of the failures was a Leaking Diesel injector Pump.

i have cleaned down the pimp and looked for leakage, as it has leaked in the past around the injector feed pipe connections, but it seems to be leaking from the, and this is my best description, round bit on the engine side, with a feed off to the turbo?

does anybody know if this bit can replaced on it own, as it looks to be bolted on with two fixings, and if so what this bit is?

Cheers

There is nothing DIYable on these pumps usually. Mine started leaking diesel around the throttle spindle and I was lucky to find a specialist who fixed the leak rather than sell me a recon pump. It was on a NA diesel so I haven't got the turbo feed so don't know if that bit can be fixed. Took the opportunity to renew the cambelt at the same time.

Where abouts on the pump is the leak coming from?

A Diesel Specialist should be able go sort that out ok.

The pump can be removed without disturbing the cambelt, A special tool goes in the front cover to hold the sprocket in place while the pump is out. Don't know where you are in the country, but an independant diesel specialist may be more inclined to do a repair than Lucas/CAV or whatever they are called these days.

Well my best description is as follows...... if you look at the pump from above, and from the front end of engine/vehicle, on the right hand side of the pump, there is a round thingy, with a pipe off to the turbo, i presume that this is some form of vacuum switch, it looks to be bolted onto the pump with two small fixings, and as far as i can tell, this is where the leak is. the round thingy has some form of seal hanging from it, the type added to ensure no tampering, if this helps???
