Olds Silhouette Windows

I have a 97 Olds Silhouette. My wife called me the other day and said the drivers side window wouldn't go back up after she put it down, was stuck about 3/4 of the way up. That night, I drove it and hit the switch, it went down (Guess I should have hit up!!!) and stopped and wouldn't go up. It is now stuck 1/4 of the way up. The following day, the same thing happened to the passenger side window. Any ideas?

Like bill said, your motor is probably shot.

I had this on my '95 Jimmy after about six years.

Both motors? Kinda strange they would both go out within 24 hours of each other. These motors get 12V? Guess I could verify I am getting 12V up to the motor huh?

Thanks!

motors go down but not up,check switch. Switch "switches" the polarity of the motor to make it go up or down, so I would check switches first. also at

11 years old, the window tracks are probably cruded up, and the lubricant on the mechanisim itself priobably dried out as well. There is also a reley in the system some where. Once all those have been checked then look to motors. Dorman motors ie new run about $60 reman Cordones run about $41.

I lost the two rear window motors on a 95 Olds within two days of each other.

Well, I have 11.77 volts at the plug, so I am assuming bad motors. Motors on the way! Thanks all!

Motor is probably riveted in. Just drill them out, and get some nuts, bolts, and use copious amounts of lock solvent in the threads.
