I own a 1993 Wrangler with the 2.5l engine. After about 130,000 miles my lifters are starting to get noisy, especially on those cold mornings. Being, a only if I have to backyard mechanic I decided to look in my Chilton's Manual to see how involved of a job it would be to replace the lifters myself. Chilton's gives a very vague description of how to replace the lifters. However it doesn't seem like to big of a job they way the show it. Does anybody know of someplace on the web where I might find more info for the do-it-yourselfer like me? The way they describe it is basically pulling the valve cover, pulling the rockers and pushrods, and use a special tool to pull them (the lifters) out. Is this all I have to do? How hard are they to get out with the special tool and where might I get this tool. It seems after looking around, that the lifters themselves are fairly cheap. For as cheap and a easy as it seems I can't afford not to do it myself. Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction?
