Range Rover Steering Box query

Hi all

Looks like the steering box in my Range Rover is now in terminal leak mode (previously bunging a load of ATF leak stop stuff in the reservoir has fixed it) - today the steering went very heavy for a brief period and then freed up again - however it looks like there is a major leak coming out where the input shaft from the steering column goes.

Assuming that there is no quick fix for this then I have a couple of questions:

1) How the h*ll do you get the three union nuts slackened off on the top of it? Mine are rock solid and I think that they may well round off if I keep trying with a standard, open jawed spanner - is there a 'super tool' out there that will free them?

2) No way do I want to play around trying to free the steering drop arm from the box - anybody know of a supplier that will do exchange or recon units with a drop arm bolted on?

When the bush on the lower drop arm went on reggie (snif snif) I took him in to Land ranger as I'd been forewarned what a pig it was to get the arm off.

£40 it cost me to have a while you wait service to what there specialist tool in action which consided of a scaffolding tube and a sledge hammer. Struck from above downward to knock the arm off once unbolted.

Having seen the state of Chris after (Blood sweat and tears) it was worth every penny. And far better swear words that your average quick fit fitter. :-)
