Tail pipe fell off - better performance!

The tail pipe on my 200tdi recently fell off. No difference in sound levels but turbo sounds as if it is running up more freely and performance seems to be improved.

Pure imagination ?

Assuming it's a 110, mine is more often off than on! I suspect the slighty "growlier" sound is adding those extra horses ;-)

Dunno... but I improved the output from the ford Di in the minibus today by accident...

the air intake into the filter box had a plastic trumpet thing on it, and this was loose and rattly. Pulled it off. noted that the hole in the middle of it is considerably smaller than the inlet tract generally...

definitely runs better without it, but with more inlet noise. Improved go and revs build quicker and higher when revving like an MOT smoke test.

now to see if I can tame the inlet noise without strangling it again. Or just live with it - 's not excatly a quiet motor anyway...
