Car tax disc display?

The message from Johannes H Andersen contains these words:

If the car park is not part of the public highway then you don't have to show any kind of tax disc at all - though you may have trouble convining parking atendants of this. Of course, you do have to have a tax disc - or declare SORN.

Do you need to display the new car tax disc when the car is parked in a car park? It would e.g. be less tempting for thieves if the old tax disc was displayed when parking in a long term car park.

Not one that I'd bother about.

Yes, I do have the new tax disc, but as mentioned there could be a security advantage by not displaying the disc in a long term car park.

Conversley displaying an out of date disc could indicate that the vehicle had been 'forgotten' about and hence would be quite attractive to steal - thief could assume that the oner is away longer than expected or even dead!
