Oil pressure switch Nissan Micra

Nissan Micra G plate 89 1.0 ltr

My oil pressure switch appears to be leaking.

This is situated at rear of engine and in the block above pan height.

It appears to have developed a leak just as i am going away tomorrow.

Can anyone tell me...

Q1 will i have to drain the oil

Q2 will i have to replace or can i refit existing with say a smear of liquid gasket.

I would rather refit than replace as i just dont have the time

Any tips on what to expect should i try to remove it.

If it's anything like most of them it will need to be replaced. They often leak from the plastic bit where it's joined to the metal bits...

You wont need to drain the oil - just don't try and do it with the engine running.

Cheers mate i was wondering if just to get me out of the cart short term i could refit it .

I see that you are saying that they often leak at the plastic to metal point.

i must say i tightened it into the block about a turn and that seems to have made the situation worse.

any suggestions for temporarily sealing would be appreciated

I have some 300 miles to do tomorrow and its too late now to get a part.

Remove and replace with blank plug or some such..

You're probably a bit shafted to be brutally honest. As someone else says, see if you can find a plug (or bolt) with the same thread and blank off the hole for now.

Might be tricky to find something with the same thread though. I think I'd be inclined to delay my day out and fix it before it all ends in tears...
