Wheel bolt question

I've just got some alloys for my 98' 214, they're Rover ones off a '94 Coupe - My question is can I use the steel wheel wheel nuts or do I need special nuts as the wheel bolt holes are bigger than the steelies they're replacing.

Thank in advance,

Just done the same myself - the nuts on the alloys are completely different to the steel ones I'm afraid. The alloys have a taper seat, with a large captive washer as part of the nut. The steel nuts have a curved seat.

You can use them, but they might not stop on :)

No.

No. You simply need the nuts that originally came with the alloys.

Failing that, check out your local boyracer store - they'll be able to supply you with a set. IIRC, they're about £2 each at my local place, so you're looking at £32 for a set.

I made the mistake of going to Rover to get a quote for wheel nuts...£6.75 each + VAT = £126.90 Needless to say I turned around and walked out laughing heartily. In the end I got a set for £10 from a local breaker. I 'm told Ford alloy nuts also fit, they looked identical.
