Ouch. Will never happen to me... again.
It's always time to check the fuel lines. That's part of the checkup I do every weekend.
One of the members of our local VW group had his Beetle break out in flames on the highway. He stopped, got most of it beat out with a tshirt and was fortunate that someone stopped with the appropriate fire extinguishing equipment.
The usual - the metal tube popped out of the 34 pict and sent fuel spraying everywhere.
I went shopping the very next day. The '69 now has a "BC" fire extinguisher firmly mounted in the passenger compartment. Soon as I get all the pieces together, I'm mounting the fuel filter under the car instead of next to the dizzy.
I got some really good 5.5mm I.D. fuel hose from cbperformance.com
It is the grey German hose not the black German hose.
