tailgate lock just recently stopped working, tailgate and glass is in closed position what is the best way to remove the broken key lock ? thanks, John

On a s15 Jimmy you have to go from inside , its a bitch to get the cover off with out breaking it too.
Go to s-series.org fourms and do a search on it.
I think it may be safe to assume the OP has tried the mechanical option called a key cylinder that will also release the glass and tailgate. This is, of course, assuming that the vehicle in question is an S-series Jimmy.
