Thanks for his link - haven't seen them although their stock is perhaps a little new for my budget. So what about Cooper in Reading - what make them so bad?

Pet, it will give you just about all the sources of these cars in the SE of England. Apart from the ones parked on the street with a poster in the window, obviously. Or dodgy back street dealers. Of course if that's what you want...

Hint. BMW 'estates' are called 'Touring' in the UK.

FFS - yes I am well aware of Google - but personal recommendations and PERSONAL hints are useful when dealing with any dealers don't you think? I want a decent but cheap one (like most people I guess).

Define cheap. Then you won't get directed to stuff over your budget.

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone with a good word for a UK BMW main dealer on here. And certainly not me. As regards independents selling a fairly specialised vehicle - good luck. You'll not find one with a forecourt full of them.

What's your budget and how far are you prepared to travel and from where?

Interesting comment, as one can get critical comments about Merc dealers in the UK and the US.

Maybe that's why MB UK has taken direct ownership of all dealerships in the London, Birmingham and Manchester areas in a bid to improve service. Certainly the one I use in Park Royal (W London) is pretty good. Maybe because it is a workshop only, no sales attached...
