I have a 2002 300M just started making engine noise , sounds like clapping? any ideas!

Does it any time the engine is running? Only when cold? Only when warm? Only when accelerating? Only at certain speeds? Sound changes with engine speed?

You put toooo much oil in it and now you have a loose seal under the hood and he is ready for you to do your next trick?

Check oil level but also it could be a heat shield rattling.
