In news: snipped-for-privacy@4ax.com, Grimly Curmudgeon decided to enlighten our sheltered souls with a rant as follows
Ah, the Spagthorpe GT. That was the one with room for 5 six foot gentlemen in full suits of armour wasn't it?. 7 litre V12 hand built by ex gurkha brass band musicians in a small shed in Todmorden.

It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "Pete M" saying something like:
The existence of that model was quietly hushed up, owing to the unfortunate fate of one of the bandsmen who was inextricably entwined with his tuba when attempting to cold start the prototype. Jeremy's plan was to include, as standard, a personal bandsman with each car, but after the incident the bandsmen walked out and the model was quietly dropped.
The engine sprouted an extra 4 cylinders and made a re-appearance in the Bologna, a conventional electric starter replacing the geared treadmill.
