Just replaced my heater core and A/C on an '82 restoration. Take apart the connections under the hood. There aren't many. Then remove the entire dash, all duct work, and pull the heater coil into the passenger compartment. Replace the bad components and put it all back together. Best to find the detailed R&R instructions for your year and take your time.
