Ranger 4.0 liter, Can't get the Fan Clutch off even with the removal tools

I have a 1994 Ford Ranger with the 4.0 liter motor. I'm tring to replace the fan clutch, and Im using the tools I check out from Autozone. Ive been trying to turn the bolt counter-clock wise and all it is doing is stripping the edges of the bolt. :-( Im going to store now to see if I can find a 1' 7/16 box wrench to see if it will work better. Im hoping the wider head of a box wrench will not slip as much.

Does anyone have any other ideas for getting the bolts to lossen up?

Thanks

Of course... we wont mention that a statement to that effect will be embossed in the fan shroud....

If I sound cynical, it's because I am....

The shroud says " Right-Hand Thread " and correct me if I'm wrong. But isn't a Right-Hand Tread Counter-clock wise to remove?

Yep....in which case, it would probably be "Righty tighty, Lefty Loosey". Not much difference, tho'! s

NOOOOO righty loosey lefty tighty. it is deff opposite of fan rotation so that the fan can not loosen as driven. KB

Thanks Kevin for the heads up. Actually, I was quite angry at myself later for being such a smart a**, answering his question; hopefully not my real nature. Where he asked "But isn't a Right-Hand Tread Counter-clock wise to remove?", that was the question I was answering with complete disregard to the importance of the real task--that of removing the fan. I hope I did not steer him into trouble. And, hopefully that will be my last smart a** reply on here. Begging apologies, s
