Re: maaco paint review over at www.maacopaint.info

That one photo of the paint peeling looks like they painted right over the original paint, not over primer.

Their Supreme Paint Job was just advertised on TV last week for $225.00

Now if you took it to Earl Shieb they would of painted over everything, dirt, trim, glass, tail lights, weatherstripping, etc..........

Good Luck with your case.

I think it was about 1971 in Newport News VA that I had 'Earl' paint my 63 Impala. It was a $30 special-- no bodywork & no guarantees. I was a Corporal in the Marines then, making about $400 a month so it was all I could afford. I did the body work & taped off anything I ddn't want paint on before I dropped it off.

When I picked it up it had some serious overspray on 2 wheels [I'd been warned & kept the hubcaps home so it was mostly the blue tires that looked a little odd for a while] ; that great enamal was alittle orange-peeled, but there were no runs; there was some overspray on the windshield that had crept under their masking--- glasswax cured that; and there was a layer of sand on the hood between the paint and the primer.

When I asked them about the sand they said "It must have blown off a truck when we put it outside for the primer to dry." When asked if they were going to fix it they said "Sure--- You give us another $30 and we'll paint it again. But still no guarantees." I lived with it for another 6 years.

There ya go... if you do ALL the sanding and prep work, it will be okay from a distance for a year or two.

That's the bottom line!

And I thought Maaco is, what was, Earl Shieb!
