Power Door Lock problem on 2000 Monte Carlo SS

Hi,

I have a gremlin in my power door locks in my 2000 Monte Carlo SS.

At random moments in time the door locks on BOTH doors will try to repeatedly lock. This will go on anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes at a time, then stop and not do it for days. Sometimes it happens when I slam the car doors or even travel over bumpy terrain.

I have changed out the electronic control module at a total cost of over $500CDN. To my dismay the trouble re-appeared a couple of days later. It has come to a point where I cannot leave my keys in the car for fear that the doors will lock (It happened once already).

I am told that the next step is to change out the PDL actuators in the doors.

Any suggestions??

BG.

That makes me think you've got a wire grounding out somewhere. I'd follow the wiring from interior through the door assembly on both doors (assuming you've got lock controls on both doors). Let us know how that goes. Usually the problem is something simple.

Not sure of the solution, but why would you " Want " to leave your keys in the car in the first place?

Leaving keys in a car is a good way to watch it drive down the street with somebody else behind the wheel. Happens all the time. Especially at

7 -11's.
