sliding door sensor contacts????

okay i did the wire jumping trick(took wire and jumped the two inner metel disk to the two outer disk on the van plate and the dome lights went out,i take the jumpers off and they come back on like a completed circut,so i replaced the door contacts like i was instructed to do and still nothing the lights stay on like a faulty switch,when i jump the metel disks on the van it fgoes off again. is it as simple as also reolacing the plate on the van also or is something wrong possible with the wiring inside the door?? is there a way i can jump the terminals inside of the snap connector to see if the new contacts are faulty???
