i know the 5.0 goes like stink in the stangs, but isnt this a little underpowered for a short box extended cab xlt? I am considering buying a truck off Ebay, but have reservations on the engine? i currently have an 84 F250 with the 6.9 diesel, but want air and extended cab.
any thoughts or opinions would be great

If the truck is geared properly, it should be fairly peppy. The axle ratio will make or break it. If it has a 4.10 it should run really well but if it has a 3.55 or so it will lack performance in top gears and in overall performance.
