My son bought a 2001 Ford Explorer and he was not given the keypad code number. Where would one look on the vehicle to find it?

Have you tried The 5 digit number code is on the white box attached to the firewall under the dash. just above the brake pedal?

Autozone has replacment ones (may not be OEM) with way to program them.
Look up "Ford Remote" on Ebay.
It is located on the power module. In the back of the Explorer, on the left side facing front, there is a storage compartment. Open it up and get a flashlight and inspection mirror. It is on a sticker on the module towards the front of the vehicle.
