I would appreciate any input in using synthetic oil in my Ford Truck. My truck is due for a complete change of trans, differential and engine lubricants and really wonder if it might be a good idea to change all to synthetic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would do it, assuming the truck is relatively new. If you have limited-slip axles, use Valvoline gear oil. It's the only one I know of that has enough LSD additive for a complete fill. Reline would also be a good choice. Rex in Fort Worth

Since you didn't post what year, engine, or SRW or DRW this is a compete shot in the dark...
ALL Ford Superduty's 99+ Single rear wheel HAVE a full synthetic in the rear differential from the factory. Changing this fluid is not normally called for. If you decide to change it be certain to read and follow the owners manual for type of lubricant and weight. It' s not easy to come up with a source of the correct lubricant in may areas of the country other than FoMoCo ...and it's $15-$20 qt. You have to add the LS additive if yours is so equipped.
If your truck is a diesel you MUST use a diesel rated (C) oil, synthetic or not.

Waste of money. Good luck changing the differential oil.

The API licensed product isn't a trus synthetic!
Use Mobil One, Penzoil Synthetid, Castrol Synthetic, Quaker State Synthetic!

I've use AMSOIL synthetic in my F150 and it runs great, engine oil is cleaner between oil changes every six months. Bob

Amsoil is good but there are equally good oils that cost far less and that's the point. If I can get the same protection for less I'm going to do it. Amsoil is good, but so is M1 and it's a whole lot cheaper. BTW, I even use M1 in my lawn mower and my chipper. Shoot, I put it in my weedeater (I've got a 4stroker Ryobi)
