Could someone have changed the instrument cluster to one with lower mileage? Would doing so show up in the computer or elsewhere? Thanks again in advance ! Fred

It is always possible, Fred. Manufacturers have tried to make it harder to change the mileage, but it is never quite impossible.
Some GM systems ( the fluorescent instrument clusters) have the mileage recorded in the PCM., not in the gauge cluster.
In this particular vehicle, the mileage is not recorded, AFAIK.
