97 TJ Dana 35 Pinion Seal Question

Evening, What is the depth of the pinion seal supposed to be on a rear Dana 35? Flush with the housing or until it bottoms out? Thanks Tqm

I've always tapped them in with a seal tool until they bottom out which, so far, has worked fine for me.
