It is actually simpler than it looks like it is gonna be. With the caution that I just finished this on a 95 which *should* be the same as yours.
First you pull the parking lamp. This also is much easier than it looks [and a good reason for having a FSM]. Two screws, one up toward the back of the top of the parking lamp assembly and the other lower down. You can get to both of them easy.
On the turn signal assembly, there are two screws along the top along the outer end. One just before the bend, the other back a tad further. Then you carefully pull the outer end of the thing to the front and the tang comes out of the mounting slot on the inside end.
I was able to gently turn my entire unit out and swap both lamps.
HINT. I said it was easier than it looks, not that it is a zero PITA job. While you are in there, replace all of the bulbs, and use a good bulb grease on the socket.
Nah. Just a long bladed screwdriver. But you might want to get a factory service manual. I wouldn't expect the dealer to charge much, as it is a VERY simple task.... the picture in the service manual makes it look like you have to go in from below....nope you can reach them all from the front or the top.
On a ZJ? There is that much difference between a 95 and 97? The screws are readily available from the top and front, but the marker assembly does have to come out first.
It's been a long while since I did bulbs for anyone. The side marker comes out with one screw inside and one that is reached between the lower part of the side marker and the signal.
There might be a screw that requires that side marker to come out.
carp!
There is. It's at the back of the lower lamp. I forgot about that one.
