Hi! Here I am... Well.... about that Liberty.

I kept if for 6 months, and traded it in on a Rubicon. Wasn't for me. I wanted more Jeep than the Liberty is.

There are things about the Libby, I just did not like. BUT If it's an SUV type rig that she's looking for, she may love it. Myself, I've never been real good with minivans ;¬D

You still out there? I haven't been around for some time, but wanted to ask how you like(d) your Jeep Liberty. My wife is wanting to get one and I thought I'd ask your opinion. I pinged you in the mustang group but they said you've been gone for some time.

Pros 4WD, 4WLo nice firm feel. Thing is heavy ways 5000 lbs

Cons-cargo space, gas mileage, been recalled for ball joints.

Most people in a Jeep group like this will trash the Liberty as it has front IFS and is not a "real" Jeep.

I don't off road it and if suits my needs well

Heh, well since my wife is replacing her minivan, I am guessing that the Lib will suit her fine. We have a 97 Grand Cherokee (which I am sure not a "real" jeep either) but since the mustang is my play car I enjoy having creature comforts in my daily driver, while still being able to get to work when there is snow on the ground.

My wife owns a 2004 Liberty loves it. Originally it was my Jeep but my physical disability keeps me from driving it. I installed the following... It has a 4 inch lift and bigger tires, lockers front and rear, full after market skid plates, aftermarket bumpers now, winch, and all that other s*it that makes a Jeep a Jeep. It does not have any problem off road what so ever. Check You tube and look at stock and modified Liberty's are capable of... You would be surprised! I have owned many a 4X4 for the last 30 years and this KJ is a very capable vehicle. I think the main reason that hard core Jeep owners don't like this vehicle is due to the fact that a "Jeep Liberty" has a "Soccer Mom" label attached to it. For that reason many people don't want to drive one because they do not look cool enough. A lifted Wrangler just looks that much "Cooler" when they are going out for their litre of Non fat over priced cup of coffee from Star Bucks. Yes it has limited cargo behind the rear seats, but then again, look at the back seat of a KJ or YJ... If you have children, I hope for your sake that they are Amputee's as there is no room back there for any adult. Or the fact that if you have the convertible top down that it has got to be one of the noisiest rides around and the back seat passengers will get blown around and is very uncomfortable. And the fuel economy is just as bad as a Liberty if not worse! They also roll over much easier than a Liberty. Why do you think a the traditional Jeep comes equipped with a standard "Roll Cage"! It's not for off road use. No it's for everyday driving! Too protect the occupants when they spill the coffee and they have a cell phone glued the their ear.

As far as "Kate"... I have never seen any off road photo's of her escapades off roads in a Liberty (KJ) so I can not comment.

As far as the infamous Bill Hughes or "Wild Bill"... I have not seen any photographs of him off roading either. For some one to say that a certain model of Jeep is not to be a Jeep, you would at least think that he would of owned that particular model and have put together a formidable "Road test" and post it as his own "Finding" with pictures, video, failures of compontentry, and document the whole shebang!

So far, I have yet to see any of this on any personal web site.

None of my opinions of the Liberty are based on anything that anyone else has had to say. I just don't like the whole SUV/minivan thing. I bought it because my daughter was moving out with my grandson and thought it would be better to haul more people. They moved back three months later and I was stuck with it. After 6 months I traded it back in on my TJ and hav not looked back once. The Libby was ok, but I am absolutely crazy about my TJ.

Like I said, have her look at the 4 door Wranglers before the Liberty. In the long run I think you'll find it will be a lot more fun. The only off roading I did in the Libby was playing in mud holes while out geocaching. There ARE groups that are dedicated to the KJ and mods available to make it almost anyting you want it to be. This is pretty much true of any vehicle though.
