twaldron proclaimed:

So you are claiming lots of pretty boy rich kids are getting called up? I know all about the units being sent to a desert campground.

L.W.(ßill) Hughes III proclaimed:

Ahh, thanks for explaining it. I was wondering during whose administration 9/11 happened--must have been the AWOL draft dodger that triggered it--according to your "logic"

No, but it's pretty apparent _YOU_ are.

twaldron proclaimed:

Hey thanks. Nice to hear from you. Y'all come back now, hear?

L.W.(ßill) Hughes III proclaimed:

"[LWBH]One thing for sure, as long as we have people that'll fight for freedom the terrorists won't bother us. I can only imagine the terror we will endure if your flip, flop taliban loving kerry is elected. Yes, I hate taliban, and you don't?"

Oh, sorry, was just reading your earlier frothing at the mouth [above] and thought you were claiming that as long as folks actually willing to show up for their military obligation were running things, we wouldn't have anything like 9/11 to worry about.

Bill:

You really are a true believer, aren't you? Maybe all Bush needed was a trip to the doctor. However, he never made that trip. Its really hard to believe that you support Bush so strongly, yet know so little about him. In reality, he represents everything you hate. In his own words, he went into the guard to avoid Vietnam ("I was not prepared to shoot my eardrum out with a shotgun in order to get a deferment. Nor was I willing to go to Canada. So I chose to better myself by learning how to fly airplanes." -- GWB, 1990). His father's connections got him to the top of the line for the Air National Guard even though on his qualification tests he scored 25%, the lowest possible passing grade on the pilot aptitude portion. Then, while in the Guard he apparently blew off a significant portion of his obligation (at least there are no records to support his doing so), he got himself grounded, and then got out early to attend Harvard.

You can try to change the subject to my military service, but that's not going to change the fact that Bush lied when he said he flew for "many years" when he only flew for 22 months. Its not going to change the fact that Kerry volunteered to go to Vietnam while Bush explicitly asked not to be sent there.

I landed in Chu Lai Viet Nam on Feb 28, 1966 and flew home in Mar of

1967. I flew into Da Nang in Sept of 1967 and flew home in April of 1968.

Did you see 'The Deer Hunter', 'Apocalypse Now', "Platoon' or other such movies? That is the stink. Do you see men holding signs "Homeless Vet"? That is the stink.

Some of them did not serve with Kerry, many of them did. All of them were betrayed by Kerry's theatrical performance when he 'testified' before congress in 1971. His regurgitation of the war stories of others was beyond the pale.

L.W.(ßill) Hughes III proclaimed:

Funny how the military does tend to expect you to show up for all of them unless you have been explicitly excused in advance. The term for those who don't show is "AWOL".

Not really. TDY is temporary duty where you are away from your normal post and get actual TDY pay for being thus detached. Fairly good source of income if you have a skill the military actually wants. You can be excused from duty to attend class, special civilian training, etc. etc, but that is not TDY. Gee, I'd expect such a military, religious, and political genius as you to know the difference.

Oooohhhhhh, I would have been disappointed in you if you hadn't said that "girlie man" crack. Granted it was a bit muffled from all that foam around your mouth, but you still managed to froth it out anyway even though you misquoted both Saturday Night Live and uncle Arnie.

L.W.(ßill) Hughes III proclaimed:

All that rabid saliva in your mouth is making you difficult to understand, so help a poor old confused man understand.

Are you claiming that with folks in power that are willing to serve their country, we wouldn't be bothered by terrorists?

Does that mean that if someone NOT willing to serve is in power, we have to worry, or that the attacks just wouldn't bother us?

John Kerry was attempting to destroy a cache of rice with a hand grenade. He was too close and he took some (shrapnel and rice) in his rear end. Both Kerry and Rassmann (the fellow Kerry rescued later that day) were damn near killed by that grenade.

"Mr. Rassmann, in his Aug. 10 op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, said Mr. Kerry was injured in the mine explosion. But Mr. Kerry told his biographer, Douglas Brinkley that "I got a piece of small grenade in my ass from one of the rice bin explosions."

When PCF 3 was blown by the mine,Kerry took his boat downstream while the other boats went about rescuing the crew from boat 3. LT Thurlow (the real hero of the day) risked his life trying to board the out of control craft. His first attempt landed him in the water and he had to try again. He finally got the boat under control where it sank in shallow water.

The other boats rescued the rest of the troops. Kerry's boat, finally returning from downstream, rescued Rassmann seconds before Chenoweth's boat could reach him.

None of them were caught lying. If you have some evidence to the contrary, it would be welcome.

Oh, the old Beverly Hillbillies argument. Yes, quite effective and relevant.

Bill:

Are you really this misinformed? Do you even read newspapers? Bush missed his required physical. He got grounded and never had his flight privileges reinstated. It doesn't matter how many physical YOU had, it matters whether Bush had his required physical, and he didn't.

Next, Bush was not TDY when he went to Harvard. He was discharged early. Here is his request to be discharged:

Here is his discharge record:

Note where is says, "Office has a six year service obligation ... and has completed 5 years, 4 months, and 5 days toward this obligation."

Bush says all of his payroll records have been released. However, the available records show no service during May - September of 1972. Bush's superior officers were unable to complete his annual evaluation for 1972 because, "Lt. Bush has not been observed at this unit during the period of report."

Bill, were you able to skip 5 months of your service, and then get discharged 8 months early? I know, I know. If I had been in the service, I would understand how you can blow off your obligations. Yeah, yeah, I'm just a girly man. But, Bush stilled lied when he said he flew for "many years" when he only flew for 22 months.
