Questions from a friend.

My friend asks: Hey, do me a favor. Ask on your JEEP forum if the Advance auto parts factory replacement Holley for the piece of $hit weber carb is decent. Also can I put 31-10.5-15s up there without any modifications. 1987 JEEP Wrangler. Thanks, Jeff

From the links I have it looks like 30" may be the largest tire he wants to run with no lift. That about right? How about his carb question? Thank you.

Find out if he has the Weber-Carter BBD carb or some other Weber on there. Usually it is emissions junk and dirt making the BBD run like crap. It 'can' run sweet.

Most folks call it a Carter BBD, but the later ones were labeled Weber-Carter.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think Holley's like hills off roading.

The tire might work on the street depending on how worn his spring are, he needs a couple inches of lift for off road.

But they do sell them. I showed you the link below. Go to advance advanceautoparts.com, select a '87 Wrangler, click on carburetors... there it is.

I had tried one of the 2300 series holleys, I can't remember the exact PN, but it was the 350 cfm two barrel. It worked, to a point. It was fine on slight inclines, but any hill of significance caused a bit of a flooding problem... followed by that ever-famous stalled CJ backwards slide down a hill. Just loads of entertainment!

Get a real Webber.

I can walk up sand pit walls and crest then turning 400-500 rpm in 3rd low.

Get too steep and I just dig my 33" muds in.

The stock carb can work really well if tuned right....
