It was only recently that Texas courts stopped recognizing "He needed killin'" as a valid defense argument.
That is the courts in the "Big Cities". You can still get away with "He needed Killin" in some of the smaller municipalities. Cut N Shoot, TX comes to mind.
Years back a bunch of people in the ski towns in CO were supposedly running bumper stickers that said "If god had wanted Texans to ski he would have given them mountains"
Supposedly the next year, the Texans drove back with their own bumper stickers "If god had wanted Coloradans to ski, he would have given them money"
