Stupid question: what's the difference between Sahara package....

sahara is mostly a trim package. different seats, different flares, different options - it has all the bells and whistles.

I have a 2004 Sahara came with cruse control, painted flairs to match body, nerf steps, 7 speaker CD system, nice seats, compos/temperature/self dimming review mirror, sunshade dark rear and side windows on soft top, full metal doors, 30x15 inch tires, and leather steering wheel.

the UK variant didn't come with cruise control, compos/temperature/self dimming review mirror, any form of soft top,30x15 inch tires or 7 speaker CD system. Or aircon either, not that we need it here.

but it did come with a D44, and the cruise control lhd kit fits rhd vehicles easily.

Dave, It is hard to find any vehicle sold in the states w/o AC there are some but they are like hens teeth. The other thing that is difficult to find any more are vehicles with manual windows, Wranglers are one of the few.

I like wind up windows - my arm can wind them down faster than the motor can, and it hasn't burnt out (yet) ! Also manually ajustable mirrors - since I don't let anyone else drive my Jeep, the mirrors never need adjusting.

That is a good one, I agree my arm has never burned out either and ditto on the mirrors. If the manufacturers would go back to basics and or the consumer vehicles would not be so costly.

In New Zealand, no cruise control or soft top or 30x15 in tyres or 7 speaker CD system either, but we do get air con and a rear D44 with a limited slip.....

Fender flares are painted, but no sidesteps or nerf bars.

The AC in the states is a given and the D44 is an option, mine came with the dual top both hard and soft. I sold the hard top for a good price and just use the soft top. A lot of people prefer the hard top in the winter but I never saw much of a difference especially since the heating/AC system in the TJ was redesigned in 2002.

Blimey, the heater in my '99 is superb, and easily good enough to keep me toasty in the winter. In the winter, the main difference is that the soft top sucks when snow lands on it, has no heating for the rear window (and I don't like to scrape it in case it scratches or cracks), has more draughts. Hmm, really should put the hard top back on except it is snowing and I can't be bothered !

Even when it a 0 degrees F here it only takes about 10 minutes for the heating system to blow hot air in my 04 TJ. My CJ took forever to heat up and did not get very warm unlike my TJ it will blast you right out and it does a good job of melting the ice on the windows even in the rear. I was up visiting my son where it gets -30 degrees F and it took a little longer to warm up but it was very comfortable where even my feet were warm. This is the first jeep I have owned where my feet kept warm especially in a soft top.

It almost never gets to 0 def F here - last time I remember that was in the early 90s. Sadly the weather is getting milder and never enough snow to build a decent snowman. We are meant to be having a cold winter and it seems a really mild one to me compared to the ones we had when I was a kid.
