MDT Tech what's the difference between the I-force and I-Force v8's

The Sequoia v-8 is the same as the 4 runner one.

I realize Sequoia versus 4runner are both i-Force V8, but they are NOT the same in Specs

specs match Tundra=Sequoia and Landcruiser=4Runner BUT why is the 4runner called i-Force when it matches the Landcruiser

If there is a difference between i-Force and non i-Force as with the Landcruiser. Did they Tune an i-Force different than the Sequoia and Tundra to the specification Matching the Landcruiser when they drop it in the 4Runner OR is it the same engine as the Landcruiser ?

If you check the Lexus LS470, the engine power and torque are exactly the same as the iForce. I noticed there are few difference in electronic such as Throttle Control, etc, but not the mileage and power so who care?. For $15-20K differences, the 4Runner V8 is a great deal. I tested drove both the V8 and V6 back to back. The V8 engine ran much smoother and quieter. So I end up with the V8 SR5 with few options in the low $28K out the door. Smoking deal.

Hurry up. Toyota has set new price for 2004. The starting price for the SR5 is in the upper $27K. For the V8, it must be in the $28-29K. They will add a 3rd row seat to compete with the Pilot/MDX, and a tire pressure warning. Guess what, the demand may pick up and Toyota ought to learn the mistake of 2003 to cut down production to raise price.

In a nutshell. They all use the same 2UZ engine. I-Force is a marking name, though "I" usually refers to Inline. Land Cruisers and 4Runners are made in Japan. I don't know for sure on the 4th gen 4Runners, but if someone posted the starting letters of the VIN, I could tell. Sequoias and Tundras are made in the US, Indiana, I think. Maybe that's where the "I" in I-Froce comes from.

I agree with the other poster that the only differences are the Fuel Injection/Air Intake, Exhaust, ECU programming, Emissions, etc. But then you start comparing varieties of apples against one another.
