110 csw Buying advice

Hi all My first post and I need some advice, I've just been to look at a 1986 110 CSW its non original and i wonder if i should leave well alone or snap it up! Its got an excellent chassis, crossmember and bulk head, drive really well has LPG and looks smart. Its had a 4ltr engine fitted(with leak in 'V')and auto box (the guy thinks jaguar?) The door frames are rough ,interior a bit rough and no LPG cert. mine for 2000 Should i run away or run towards it ?

if it's truly sound in the chassis and bulkhead departments, it's worth it - if it's got any serious corrosion, I'd leave it.

LPG kit can be certified and/or brought up to scratch - a complete new system minus tanks is only a few hundred.

door frames are all like that guvnor, if they're really beyond repair, replacement doors are not too hard.

be nice to find out which auto it's got, to see if it's suitable, although it's hard to see how anything but a RR one would fit, and still interface with the transfer box.

when you say "4 litre engine" I assume it's a 3.9 V8? They were described as "4.0" with no change in capacity AFAIK. If so it's presumably an EFi, and if it's on carbs, then check that it's been tuned right - they didn't do a carb setup, so any 3.9 carb engine is an aftermarket job, and needs the correct jets/needles to work really well.

The description sounds like an engine and box from a disco, really, but without seeing it it'd be hard to say.

What's leaking from the valley and how much? Valley gasket isn't hard to change, just a lot of bits to unbolt first.

interior is largely up to you. If you don't mind it being shabby, just use it. failing that, there are any number of seat suppliers.

I recently bought a 1984 110 CSW for similar money. If the bulkhead and chassis are solid and all works well with the engine/gearbox etc then I'd snap it up.
