Masterpro breaker bar

I spotted this 600mm breaker bar

seems mighty cheap, which is whats ringing a few alarm bells along with not hearing about this manufacturer before. The last thing I want is a poor quality breaker bar failing half way during a task. Usually go with halfords stuff, but this is about £10 cheaper, possibly for a good reason.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend this or if I should run a mile to halfords/sealey elsewhere ?

Thanks

Hehe sounds like I should avoid sealey stuff from the sounds of it ?

I've only had a few odds and sods fro them in the past and no issues but nothing major.

May just pay the extra for the halfords one knowing the knuckle won't pack up easy well hoping it wont. The halfords quality is usually great.

Either don't seem to have any guarantee with them or can't find it mentioned.

The first looks the best the bar, the second (AK7301) has a slot cut into the end and where that is, cut creates a stress raiser in the corner and usually brakes. (As I havent used the first type not sure if this applies as well.) This is where a guarantee come in - when you over load the bar and snap it - not uncommon BTW. Thats a long bar and you can apply lots of pressure.

Can't see Eurocarparts selling rubbish.

'Top brand' tools tend to be very overpriced in terms of actual performance. They may well have a better finish etc, but quite often are no stronger than those at a sensible price. Especially so for normal DIY use.

By all accounts, Halfords Pro range is well worth the money. Just to mention - I've had a Britool breaker bar for near 40 years and in that time it's been sorely abused, never broken and is good for another 40.

I have a Halfords trade card and their pro tools attract a 40% discount with that. Or rather at least some do. And they'll still be making a profit.

What something costs bears little relation to the selling price these days

- a small Ebay only concern can exist on a fraction of the profit margin places like Halfords need.
