defender front axle

Hiya all,

A while ago we bust the panhard rod mount on the front axle and what with other things and stuff, haven't managed to get the timings right for the bloke from the garage to come and weld it back on. Either he's busy or I'm busy.

An alternative is replacement. The Defender is a '93 and there's a '94 Discovery front axle case on Ebay. Will this casing be the same? How much blood am I going to let while swapping all the internals over?

I doff my cap to others greater knowledge of these things.

Although it's not in my nature to do things the easy way, I'd really recommend getting the mount welded back-on. Axles are dirty, oily, very heavy and there are lots of potentially very seized, inaccessible, big bolts to mess around with.

Cheers,

AndyC.

P.S. No idea if the Disco case is the same as a Defender one.

Possibly not, although I dare say they're interchangeable, FSVO. Chances are it's got different brake calipers too. ISTR differences in the lock stops and suchlike.

It's a Landrover...of course it'll fit, it may need a meastro fog light button to opperate the ABS but it'll fit.

LOL!

Dunno!

Don't ask me!

I know that John had a defender rear axle on his 110.... Not a clue what was on the front but if the rear fit's then I can't see much different up front. That said it's not me spending so ring a local non francised , they are bound to know.

I should hope he did, I assume you mean disco. 110 rear axles should be salisburys and have different springs, among other things.
