Discovery Air Con

Got a 96 300 TDI ES disco with aircon, When you switch the aircon on and put the blower to speed one or above the aircon light on the switch lights up. Also the 2 aircon fans in front of the radiator start up but the air produced does not seem very cold to me as if somethings not working properly.

Is there a way of telling if its just gas it needs ? and if so does anyone know the type and how much of it as a friend of mine does aircon and will have a look about re-gassing it if i can give him the specs for it ?

or how can i tell if the compressor is buggered ?

Yes, evacuate the system and weight what comes out, compared to what should be in there.

'96 vehicle is bound to be R134a, cannot be anything else

Try ringing your local dealer if no-one here knows

Not without proper gas levels, yours obviously isn't seized but could be breaking up internally contaminating the whole system;(

Look under the bonnet, there is (or should be) a yellow at the front label telling you what type of gas and how much depending if you have front or front and back.air con

Hi

Open the bonnet and check that the compressor is cutting in and out, if not its probably gas though it could be a duff thermostat in the chiller matrix.
