Ebay Advice

Evening.

Some advice...

Some silly cow has won an auction of mine for a surround sound speaker.

Its Ebay auction 290143917381.

The sale was for a single speaker only, not the whole thing. This was clearly described in the text in the auction.

The only thing i could have done better, was not to put an image of the whole thing in the pic, but tbh i could not be arsed to photoshop the others out.

Now.

She won it, and did not contact me at all during the auction. She now says that she thought it was for the whole thing, and no longer wants it.

She also says she has reported me to Ebay (Do i really care?) for my auction not being described correctly.

The silly bitch has removed her account from ebay, so i have no idea what her email address is, and no way of contacting her.

It only sold for 99p + £5 P&P, but its hte principle of the thing.

Unfortunately all too common - almost nobody reads things properly*. I've been given negative quoting "Smaller than expected" when the dimensions where clearly in the auction listing! People look at the photo and ignore the words.

From someone who sells on eBay a great deal, trust me - it ain't worth the hassle of chasing something like that. Just put in a non-paying bidder report, if she has removed her account, you should get some eBay fees back.

*A classic example was from a teacher I used to know who often posed this question in exams..."How long is a 30cm steel ruler, and what is it made of?" It used to provoke all sorts of different answers.

It looks pretty clear to me - ONE speaker in capitals. I may just have emailed you if I were buying to check that but I would have expected the answer - " Just the one matey."

Another example my father used to ask us kids:

What's heavier - a ton of feathers or a ton of coal?

In my opinion your description was more than adequate, it was very short and ONE was in capitals. You have to be incredibly careless, lazy and/or stupid to misunderstand what's on sale. I think the buyer realised what a fecking retard she is, which to me would explain why she gave up her account that quickly. You can coutner-report her on eBay or ask for her details ( I suppose you can anyway), but the poor buggers must have far too many such cases to take notice, particularly for something that cost less than a quid.

Btw, I know I'm being nosy, but why would you sell ONE speaker?

I got the speaker as a replacement under warenty by Sony, but never got round to fitting it - then i upgraded to a better system.

Hence the spare speaker :)

But.................

If you've upgradaed surely you've got a full set of speakers spare?

Are you sure you're not the confused one ;)

stirrer :-)

but even so, it highlights one of the problems in the eBay system IMHO - you can get a malicious or stupid person give you an unwarranted neg and it's next-to-impossible to get rid of it, even if the balance of evidence is strongly in your favour. You can have "mutually withdrawn", but that implies that the other party is still on eBay, which seems not to be the case this time.
