I bought a Belkin ipod car charger and fixed a standard ipod dock into the car, connected to the charger and the audio out connected to the stereo's CD player inputs. Worked a treat although I've now removed the dock so I can hold the ipod on the end of its cable while it's playing to choose tracks.

What does the dash unit say? NO MAGAZINE, NO DISC...

Mine occasionally doesn't recognise discs in variable posititions (NO DISC). Ejecting the magazine and putting it back in normally sorts that out, don't fiddle with the eject button or the dash unit whilst it is checking for discs after you put the magazine back in. You run the risk of confusing it.

I suspect this is what happened to mine last week. It was saying NO MAGAZINE when it was in there and wouldn't eject. Had to take the unit out, drivers seat fully forward, undo the 4 x 10mm nuts (short extension and a socket does both sides. Access and light is better if you take the plastic side and front surrounds of the seat base. Tight squeeze to lift the unit of the studs but do able. Single multiplug on short flying lead outside rear corner of the unit.

Take off the brackets. 4 small screws at the end of lid top hold that on then you have to gently prise the fingers out along the lower sides and back edge. Large flat cog on top of the mechanisium is what moves each disc in/out of the magazine.

Switch or wiring? ECU is under the center consol I think. As the rear roof works I'd suspect switch/wiring rather than ECU. Not sure where the power control for the motors is. It might be in the passenger compartment fuse box or in the ECU.

Visit eBay... make sure the one you go for covers your particular model there are lots of different versions out there.

Not meaning to sound stupid, but have you checked the CD's are in the right way up? In the changer in one of my previous cars, the CD's had to go in 'upside down' (i.e. label side down) which looked completely stupid and was clearly an idiotic design - had me stumped for a few days! I think it was a Pioneer changer??

The ES model came with the premium as standard, so I'd be pretty certain that you have the premium system.

'Tis dark 'n wet. I try to remember to have a look at mine in the morning. Memory says the arm follows the line of the glass like any other arm. It's all tucked down behind the spare when parked though.

Take the arm off. Cycle the motor to determine that it parks correctly. Refit arm.
