LPG conversions

If a V8 that does about 18mpg is fitted with LPG, what would the consumption typically be? Will it be worse? Like 12mpg?

depends on your engene if you have fuel injection then you should get the same as you do on petrol.

if you have a carberettor then it will be about 80% to the miles per gallon compared to petrol.

Thanks. Just that I saw an ad for a disco v8 claiming 30mpg for lpg - I guess that must have been adjusted for price versus petrol.

depends on the setup. If you use as much power on LPG as you do on petrol, you'll lose some economy.

probably. our 3.5 here is getting something around 16 mpg on LPG on a run, not quite as good on local mileage. since the LPG is about half the price of petrol or diesel, on average, the equivalent is about 30 mpg provided you don't run too much on petrol, of course.

No, LPG doesn't have the same "bang per unit" as petrol - consumption will increase by typically 10 to 20%. My 110 (4.7V8, efi) does 15.5mpg on petrol on a run, same run on gas is 12.5mpg. My disco (4.0 series2) does 17+mpg on a run on petrol, same run on gas is about 14mpg.

Normally due to the extra restriction in the inlet - you tend to compensate with more throttle if you are in the habit of using the power a lot. if driven carefully, % drop is the same as efi, for the same reason. Badger.
