I have a Defender 90 CSW 2002. Can I add the middle front seat to my Defender? Would I need to inform my insurance company? Are there any other implications?
Regards JJ

I've recently been doing quite a bit of phoning around for insurance. I also have a D90. The number of seats is one thing they ask about. I've usually replied, "Two plus a midget" to which I get the reply, "Oh, three".
Replacing the middle seat (assuming it's been removed)seems to be a modification you ought to inform your insurers about. They may also ask about seat belts. It will cost no more than a phone call while if you don't tell them and the omission invalidates your insurance, the cost will be a lot more. Tell them everything and if you tell them too much you will be erring on the right side.

You're leaving yourself wide open to charges of unwanted physical contact by your passengers, as it can get pretty intimate. :)
Yes - the birth of our fourth daughter two years ago is testament to that.
